Student arraigned in court for defiling 13-year-old girl

A Form Two student accused of defiling a 13-year-old girl was on Thursday arraigned before a Kabarnet court and charged with defilement.

 The 17-year-old boy was charged that on unknown date in September last year in Marigat location of Baringo South constituency at 2pm, he unlawfully sexually assaulted the minor contrary to section 8(1) as read with section 8 (3) of the Sexual Offences Act No.3 of 2006.

The student was arrested on February 20 this year, and remanded at the Marigat police station.

He appeared before Kabarnet Resident Magistrate Viennah Amboko Wednesday where he denied the charges.

 The magistrate released him on a personal bond of Sh100,000, with a surety of same amount to be executed by his parent to allow him go back to school.

 Amboko ordered the case to be mentioned on March 10 for further directions.

The court prosecutor Joseck Abwajo told the magistrate that he has lined up four witnesses to testify in the case.
