Police officers have launched investigations to establish the cause of the fire that destroyed two dormitories at Namboboto Secondary school in Funyula, Busia County.

According to the students, the fire broke out at 8pm on Saturday as they were in the dining hall during an entertainment session. The students tried putting out the fire and salvage properties but plenty was destroyed.

The school has however not been closed and learning is continuing.

“we have agreed with them that they will a needs assessment and when they finish we will see how to help and make sure that the students continue with classes. Of importance is that we will not close the school and no child will go home.” Funyula MP Wilberforce Oundo said.

“We as the leaders and the school will work together to make sure the students will be okay and that all their issues are sorted so that nobody goes home.” He concluded.
