KCSE 2020 Candidates to Know Varsity Placement on Tuesday

KUCCPS, in July, said they had completed the selection process for those who applied for placement to local universities and colleges

Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced that the process for university placement for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) students is now complete.

The agency noted that the process was scheduled to be made public on Tuesday, August 17 after a rigorous exercise following the third revision that closed on June 23, 2021. KUCCPS indicated that students could access the results either online through the students portal or via SMS through the phone numbers they provided.

To access the results on their portal, the students are required to access KUCCPS website through https://students.kuccps.net/. Once on the portal, they will be required to log in by providing their username (KCSE full index number), year (2020) and a password (birth certificate number).

Once logged in, successful applicants will see a message containing the details of their placement on the dashboard. The announcement will be in the format of, “Congratulations, followed by the university you have been placed then finally the course you will pursue.”

“The placement process is complete. The results will be released tomorrow Tuesday 17th August 2021. The results will be announced through the media. In addition, applicants will be notified through the KUCCPS Student’s Portal and SMS via the phone numbers they provided,” read the statement from KUCCPS.

In the 2020 KCSE, Education CS George Magoha indicated that all 747,171 students would be enrolled to higher education, tertiary institutions through KUCCPS. A total of 893 candidates, representing 0.12 per cent, scored a mean grade of (A), and 6,420 candidates got A- (minus). A total of 7313 candidates scored A- (minus) and above.

Magoha also announced that a total of 143,140 candidates scored a C+ and above and were eligible for direct admission into universities. Those who scored lower than C+ (plus) are eligible to join Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVETs).

Universities are expected to contact the students with information on how and when to enroll for their first year studies. “The joining dates and instructions are set and issued by the respective institutions. You will be contacted after the results are released,” added the statement.
