A 16-year-old teenage girl was allegedly gang-raped after she had allegedly accompanied her mother to an overnight meeting for the burial planning of a relative.
K24 reported that the four young men from Nyamusi village, Bonyengwe 2 sub-location in Nyamira have been arrested for the alleged crime.
Police reports show that the four attacked and dragged the victim to the neighbouring Kabodo village, in Homa Bay County when she went to answer a call of nature outside the house at around 3 am on Friday morning.
Nyamira North sub County police commander, Partrick Ngeiywa, indicated that one of the defilers, Kelvin Ochieng’, 19, was arrested by community policing members and police officers while escorting the minor back.
Later in the evening, police in Nyamusi arrested the other three culprits identified as Joshua Otieno, Stephen Odiwuor and Isaiah Odongo at Misambi village in the house of one Phelix Otieno.
Police also recovered six used condoms from the scene.
This comes as Police officers in Machakos County launch investigations into the chilling killing of a 14-year-old girl whose body was found dumped by the riverside in Itukwi village in Wamunyu location.
Kaitha Chief David Soo on Tuesday revealed that the body of the Class Eight girl, a candidate at Kilaani Primary School, was found by the locals on Monday morning.
K24 reported that the killers of the girl first defiled the girl and then strangled her to death.
According to the chief, the girl had been sent to Ndituni market by her parents on Sunday evening but never made it back home.
It was only on Monday that one of the residents of Itukwi village called the administrator informing him of the discovery of a body of a girl dumped near a river along the road leading to the market.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations visited the scene of the crime and took the body to Machakos Level 5 Hospital mortuary.
It has also emerged that two people alleged to have been seen with the girl before her disappearance and death have been arrested for questioning.
The incident has left villagers in shock and disbelief as they called for a speedy probe into the crime to ensure those behind the heinous act are brought to justice
