Family of the boy who died in Nyabondo Boys after the toilet caved in accuses the school administration of gross misconduct and negligence

The family of the form one student who died on Monday after a toilet caved in Nyabondo Boys High school in Kisumu County, have accused the school administration of gross misconduct and negligence after it failed to inform them about the death of their child.

The family came to learn about the demise of their son from a subordinate staff whom the family used to deliver pocket money to their son through mobile transfer.

The toilet block caved in on Monday evening when three students were using it which resulted to one death and other two seriously injured. The two injured students were rushed to Nyabondo Mission Hospital for treatment. One was discharged while another is still recovering at the hospital.

A family member who sort anonymity said that the school transferred the body to the mortuary without informing the family and it is said that the administration tried to quiet the situation as the head teacher didn’t want to lose his benefit as he is nearing retirement.

Meanwhile, yesterday a group of activist protested in Nairobi after a form one student from Aquinas High school was sexually abused in the school by a form four student whistle the school remained mum about the situation.AdvertisementsREPORT THIS AD

His plight came to light through an education activist Ndungu Nyoro, who was contacted by the boy’s parent seeking justice for her son after the school played dumb on the issue.

It is alleged that the family was informed by the boy’s class teacher of his worsening health after it became obvious that the boy’s heath had been compromised.

The school administration continue to deny the incident saying that it happened outside the school after the boy’s parent came for him in school. It is alleged that the school is protecting the perpetrator and is still in school.

The boy who is recovering at home is in diapers and tried to commits suicide but was unsuccessful.
