Detectives arrest 44 school kids at a house in Nairobi, seize alcohol and Bhang

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday night arrested 44 children at the Mountain View Estate in Nairobi.

The kids who included 26 boys and 18 girls aged between 14 and 17 years were arrested a alongside a 41-year-old woman identified as Millicent Kithinji who had hosted the children at her house.

According to the DCI, they are investigating to establish the reason why the woman had hosted the children and how the children got to her house.

In a statement after the arrests, DCI detectives said various alcohol brands and bhang were recovered.

All are in primary and high schools.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the kids had traveled from Nairobi and Machakos Counties, begging the question of how they travelled in a group without detection.

Their parents have since been contacted with police toiling to establish why the woman had hosted the children and how they had travelled.

Parents have been urged to take keen interest in their children’s activities at home and on the social media networks.
