Police officers have arrested 21 teenagers at an alcohol-filled birthday party at a hotel in in Webuye in Bungoma County.
Webuye OCPD Valerian Obore says police stormed the hotel after receiving a tip-off from members of the public about the minors partying.
The police boss has urged parents to be mindful of their children’s activities during this period in which they are home so that they do not go astray and stumble onto irresponsible acts such as alcoholism.
Similarly, twenty other people including minors – were arrested while drinking during curfew in Maralal, Samburu County.
Area Assistant Chief Celina Lemakara said bar owners have now resorted to transporting alcohol to their homes where they host revelers and sell alcohol to them.
Lemakara urged other area administrators to conduct crackdowns on such places saying they increase the risk of spreading COVID-19.
